Shrimad Bhagawat Saptah (23-30 December 2006)

It was a unique and unprecedented experience for the people of Durban (South Africa) when they got the rare fortune to listen to the entire Srimad Bhagavatam as part of the first ever Bhagavat Saptah to be organized in Durban. Under the auspices of Chinmaya Mission South Africa, the resident Acharya Swami Abhedananda conducted these blissful discourses on Srimad Bhagavat from 23rd December to 30th December 2006. Talks were conducted throughout the week in mornings as well as evenings, wherein the satsang hall was filled with devotees who reveled in listening to the glories of Lord Krishna in so much depth and splendor.

The most memorable events were the celebration of Shri Ram Janmotsav and Shri Krishna Janmotsav when everyone danced and clapped in joy, dropping all their inhibitions. The elaborate festivity and splendor of the Bhagavat Saptah was visible in every element of the program throughout the week. The stage was extraordinarily decorated by all the devotees, who enjoyed every moment of being together and serving the Lord.

The Poornahuti was performed at the end of the Saptah and thanks giving ceremony was organised as part of the formal completion. It was a great feeling to see all the committee members and trustees who not only worked hard for the success of the program but also attended the satsangs very regularly and felt rejuvenated within themselves. At the same time, this event brought all the mission members close to each other and kindled a spirit of selfless service towards the Mission and towards realization of Pujya Gurudev’s vision.
