Overcoming the ongoing Covid-19 challenges, this year’s Ram Navami celebrations in Chinmaya Mission South Africa turned out to be more magnificent than ever before! The grand ONLINE 24 hours Ram Navami event at Chinmaya Mission Durban, SA witnessed more than 20000 LIVE viewers from across the globe on our Facebook and YouTube channels!

Invoking the blessings of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, Pujya Swami Tejomayananda and Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, we worked under loving guidance of Pujya Swami Abhedananda who led this most enamoring virtual celebration with the theme “Keep Calm, Invoke Ram”. True to its meaning, the event was an unforgettable experience for one and all who joined from many corners of the world and welcomed Lord Ram in their hearts and reveled in the glory of “Ram Naam” for the entire 24-hour duration!

The festivities began from the first day of the auspicious Chaitra Navaratri, 13^th April 2021, when the priest of Chinmaya Shivam Temple in the presence of Pujya Swami Abhedananda took sankalp of Ram Laksharchana Pooja for “Universal Well-being” (Sarvey Santu Niraamayaaha). It was a call for all the devotees worldwide to join their hands, merge their hearts and unify their prayers, as prayer alone is the sure cure for all problems!

Hundreds of devotees participated in this 9-day long Ram Sahasranama archana with Swamiji where the holy chanting of Shri Ram Naam drenched each individual with infinite grace. As the message ‘Each One, Offer Some’ reverberated in the whole city of Durban, there was enormous amount of Tulsi leaves being sent to the Chinmaya Shivam temple by various devotees from their homes. Each Tusli leaf further strengthened the divine sankalp of this glorious event!

The 24-hour event commenced at 4 pm (SA time) on 20^th April 2021 where we had a plethora of renowned artists and star performers who offered melodious bhajans and dance performances at the lotus feet of Lord Ram. The Online Program commenced very auspiciously with Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji’s rendition of Ram bhajan, followed by Ram Navami message of Pujya Swami Swaroopanandaji.

The Live view from Chinmaya Mission Durban started off with the grand aarti of Ram Darbar by Swami Abhedanandaji. Non-stop Sahasranaam Archana was offered during the whole event followed by the mesmerizing Ram Janm Utsav and Maha Aarti. It was most captivating to witness Swamij Abhedanandaji’s divine austerity, as he performed Ram Sahasranaam Archana continuously, interspersed with short and potent Live Q&A sessions where Swamiji gave the insightful solutions to dissolve our life’s problems and shared the essence and import of having ‘Ram Janm’ in our hearts forever!
