Cosmic 108 Hanuman Havan (8th July 2012)

The community was privileged to participate in South Africa’s first ever Hanuman Chalisa and Havan hosted by the Chinmaya Mission of South Africa. The event was held to bring together people in common faith and allow them to gain all the material and spiritual benefits of participating in such an event.

Months of planning culminated in a unique combination of pooja, satsang and continuous repetition of the Lord’s name.  The Hanuman Chalisa was chanted 108 times and after every recitation, an ahuti was offered by the yajmaans into 108 Havan kunds. The event commenced at 7 am with pooja , followed by the chanting and concluded by 5.30 pm. More than 3000 people attended this event and the chanting and offerings illumined the many in attendance. Many leading musicians lead the singing and created the required ambience through melodious chanting. A combination of sublime weather, a magnanimous 2.1 m tall murti of Hanumanji, continuous chanting with bhava and devotion and the presence of Pujya Swami Abhedananda left those in attendance feeling closer to God and spiritually charged.

The Chinmaya Mission South Africa was honoured to serve the community by hosting these 2 grand events and to bring the message of the Hanuman Chalisa and Pujya Gurudev to many. The common message from both the discourse and the Havan was that faith in God alone lifts, inspires, changes and liberates. With the Grace of the Lord and Pujya Gurudev’s blessings, we pray that this will become an annual event for the Misson in South Africa.
